The Ninemillion.org campaign was born from an initiative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in collaboration with Nike and Microsoft. The UNHCR is one of the biggest humanitarian agencies in the world with over 6.540 people working to better life conditions of more than 32.8 million people in 116 nations. The goal of the campaign is to give easy access to instruction, sports and technologies to 9 million children worldwide. The portal’s (www.ninemillion.org) main purpose is fund raising, but also to give a voice, through multimedia contents, to the lives of 9 million refugee children.

Needs & Goals:

• Counseling on online communication strategies.
• Creation of a call to action to raise funds.
• Re-branding of the “online identity” of the campaign.

Activities:

• Counseling and continuous support in the online communication strategy definition.
• Complete re-design of both the main portal and the minor websites, including an integrated and synergistic communication strategy among all sites. The re-design included:
  • Information, Navigation & Wireframe Design.
  • Creativity & Visual Design.
  • Implementation, using YourCMS (our Content Management System).
  • Constant usability monitoring of the Portal.
  • Maintenance and update.

Results:

In just 3 weeks we designed and implemented the new portal. Specifically, we realized the new Information Architecture, the new Visual Design and the implementation. The portal is still up and running today as a place to share images and videos, while promoting fund raising campaigns.
